Last weekend was draft weekend. From USM, Robert Henderson was drafted in the sixth round by the New York Giants. Brandon Sumrall, was not drafted but he did sign an undrafted free agent contract. The Saints got Sedric Ellis (7th pick over all) from USC in the first round, Tracy Porter a quarter back from Indiana in the second round and their last pick was Adrian Aaronington, a wide receiver from Michigan. In the spirit of the weekend, I spent my time writing a History rough draft and final draft, an English rough draft, a Costume final draft and a Voice final draft. Fun, eh? I’m still writing as we speak. AUGH! When will the madness end?

I did not have a weekend.
I spent Friday evening at the theatre doing tech work for the play Our Town (which by the way, is worth going to see). I slept until Saturday afternoon and then ate lunch before going back to the theatre until 11ish. I went to sleep and then woke up Sunday afternoon and ran back to the theatre until 5ish. I went to church at six, ate dinner, and began writing a history paper that is pwning my ass. I will only be pausing to do theatre homework (*strangling noise*) and briefly to write this blog.
Luckily, the due date for history has been postponed one class day. Unfortunately, this gives me less time to write my English paper. Yay…

So, I’m sitting in the Tatum Theatre Sound room right now, watching the deck crew sweep the stage. Technical rehearsals usually go by very slowly because it’s the first time all the crew of a play come together with their “finished” work. Though the costumers and actors may interact through normal rehearsal period and the lights crew and stage crew may also interact, etc., this will be the first full run-through rehearsal where the actors, sound crew, light crew, stage crew, deck crew, stage manager, director, and designers all come together. I’ll be here for a least good ten hours today. Tomorrow, it’ll be the same. Our Town is going up this weekend and so far it looks great. I’m operating the sound board for the first time. Ten minutes till we begin.

Lazy weekends are the best. Today I lounged in bed with the windows open until I decided to eat breakfast around noon. I then spent the evening in sprawled out in warm clover. Friday and Saturday went at a similarly relaxed pace. It was a wonderful way to end a outright terrible week. Last Sunday, I was stressed more than usual and it ended up making me very sick. The week got increasingly aggravating as it progressed. I definitely needed a completely hassle free weekend. I completely disregarded anything I had to do and spent the lazy weekend with a few of my friends. It was lovely. Now, I’m slowly finishing all my homework and I’ll get to bed reasonably early. Hopefully this week will be comparatively better than the last.

Nothing new, I’m exhausted. I went to my first concert this weekend - Taste the Chaos in Biloxi. With me, was my friend Big Al going to see Avenged Sevenfold, and my younger brother ready to mash (sp?) to Bullet for My Valentine. I was wholeheartedly attending the concert for Atreyu. I had to sit through four terrible opening bands and two more (decent) bands before they finally played. Atreyu’s lead singer is pretty hot from 800 feet away. The entire show was wonderful. I reeked of weed and sweat when I got back. Not my weed, and not my sweat. It was worth it. I have showered three times since the show, so hopefully I have purged my body of all those strangers’ bodily fluids and toxic plants fumes or whatever. I completely enjoyed myself at the concert, but my voice is shot and my right ear is screwed up. The cold I caught doesn’t help anything either. Anyway, it was an amazing, brilliant show.

Easter

Lent is over! Yay for Easter. I went to visit family in New Orleans and got to bond some more with my best friend and cousin, Nicole. Seeing her made me having to wake up at six AM to get back to school worth it (that was an awkward sentence). It’s really weird to see her face when I talk to her. It seems I've developed this habit of looking off when I talk to her instead of making eye contact. I'm not sure she noticed, but I noticed my gaze was drifting. I've been conditioned to the phone. I wish she lived closer or at least was going to college down south, but instead she is staying in state. Understandable, but not a happy thing. I took close to a thousand pictures, gorged myself on chocolate and as always got very little sleep. Huzzah!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

Happy Saint Patrick’s day! Spring break wasn’t what I expected it to be, but it was pleasant nonetheless. Unfortunately, none of my plans worked out, but I still had an amazing time. I stayed home and got very little work done along with massive amounts of sleep. I must have gone to seven different restaurants this week which is more than I usually eat out in a month. Anyway, I’m still dog tired from all the things I did over break. Too bad every one of my teachers each gave me a lengthy assignment. I had so much freaking school work to do that I was overwhelmed. I can never do work at home and I haven’t had the chance yet to do any here. I wish we had two days off of school to do homework. It sucks, but I’ll live.
